One Year Later

One year ago I posted as we left Canada on the general state of affairs as I saw them.  I’ve found that its kinda fun to look back on, so lets do it again.

This year dollar is about .97 per US dollar, almost at par. For us Canadians that means very affordable travel. The TSX (Toronto Stock Exchange) is at 11,500 points, so the market is climbing, slowly, but climbing. Gas this year, is a little less than last, I paid about 90 cents per litre when I filled up the truck yesterday.

Last year the news was all about Obama’s run at the presidency and the upcoming economic crash. This we, in Canada at least, are viewing the downturn in our rear view mirrors and are now completely focused on Swine, oops, H1N1 flu.

Our media has to have something right, anyone remember the disasters headed our way for Y2K?

As we cross the border today we do it with both calm and excitment. Our world is working just fine, we have adjusted to living in less than 300 square feet and , incase you haven’t noticed, look forward to our new adventures. We leave behind a lot of good friends and family, but we’ll return, I promise, with more fond memories of even more good friends.

Look out world. The Vanstones are coming!
