It’s one amazing read, that’s what it is. I noticed a couple of weeks ago that this blog was being stalked by a Good Luck Duck.

At first I was OK with it, then I began to have nightmares into the wee hours. In these strange days they tell us that one can’t be too careful because you could get wacked by a falling satellite or get an invitation to dinner at a nice restaraunt with  a completey un-nice suicide bomber. And everybody knows you would never go to Mexico without a baseball bat or gun or both.

So, really, what is this duck thing anyway?

It’s a couple of extremely wacky ladies who share their strange and hysterical thoughts with anyone who cares to read them. I’ve been told politely that I  look at world from a little different perspective than the average Larry. If that’s the case I will plead that I am nearly normal compared to this pair.

We started our day with a dog walk around 50 Point, stopped at a garage sale and here we are in Toronto babysitting grandson Aiden.
I think today would be day 4 or 5 (don’t need to know how to count anymore) and I can feel myself  really starting to unwind.

How hot is it? Usually on a hot day I enjoy a cold beer. Yesterday afternoon it was so warm that after I had that cold beer I found myself craving really cold ice water; and I drank gallons of it.

At 6:30 this morning the temperature is already 27C, that’s 37 when you factor in the humidity and they tell us we are headed for a high of 38C, or feels like 48 (approaching 120F). I have no documented proof but I’m thinking I’m about to experience the warmest day ever in my life.

At these temperatures you don’t need a thermometer to know it’s hot. Kind of like at 40 below, you know it’s cold, no one has to tell you.

50 Point is not known these days for good electricity. Our generator cut in late yesterday afternoon (the park does not provide enough power for all the air conditioners so our generator automatically takes over) and is still running at 7 this morning. It will probably run all day. While we are perfectly climate controlled in our coach, a lot of our neighbors are not so fortunate.

They say everything happens for a reason. Am I being prepared for living with extreme heat because I’m not going to heaven after all?

For the past three years this storage facility was jammed full of our stuff.  When we moved out of the house in 2008 all the things that we weren’t taking in the motorhome but were still important to us went here. It was full. We had to be careful how we opened and closed the door otherwise stuff fell out.

This spring we decided that even though it was important “stuff” three years ago it was now mostly just “stuff”. And we were paying $113 per month just so we didn’t have to deal with it. Our goal was to be out by July 31. Marilyn took charge and things started to happen. After numerous trips to Value Village, the Grimsby Benevolent Society and the garbage yesterday was the final. A bike (our tandem), a bike rack and some art supplies, the truck was full but the bin was empty,

The truck has now been emptied, the bike has air in the tires and is ready to go. If we don’t ride it, it will be gone too.

All that’s left is to decide what to do with the $113 a month.

No thanks, I appreciate your offer, but I think we can handle that task on our own.

You probably already have. He’s the guy that’s famous for all those Murphy’s Laws. You know; If anything can go wrong it will and all those other gems.

Yesterday I ask you to comment, today I realize that “Comments” aren’t  working. I’m getting them and can see them in the back of the blog but they are not making it to the front, the part of the blog you see.

No big deal, we’ll get it sorted out so keep those comments coming.

We’ve been here at 50 Point for a week now. The grass is greening, the trees are budding and the snow is disappearing. All are true signs of a Canadian Spring I would say. You can see how much snow was left at 8:30 this morning with a temperature just above freezing. The question is; When will it be gone? I’m thinking I should get a pool going. I was going to guess 3:15 but it’s really starting to warm up out there, now I think I’m going to go 1:07. Winner may get a beer.

New Wife, Sort Of:

Yesterday morning my lovely lady went to her appointment at Marine Land, thanked them all very much for all the fun she’s had the last couple of years and said she wasn’t coming back. By yesterday afternoon she was telling all who would listen that she is an Artist.  The rest of us  already knew that  but now we are all on the same page. Put another way, I am married to unemployed trailer trash with paint all over her nose. We’re going to have a fun summer.

Political Comment:

Any of us who have been near the US/Mexico border have been blown away by the hundreds, no thousands of Home Land Security vehicles we see going back and forth. You wonder how many Billions they go through every month protecting us from spanish speaking women and children. All this as their older northern cities rot out from the inside out.

As a casual observer of life in the US this revelation makes this Canadian boy one happy fella. I constantly marvel at how  inept and ineffective  our politicians are. Now I think our neighbors to the south have even more to be concerned about then us. It’s a small comfort, but a comfort none the less.

How’s that old joke go? You know the one, the joke about the Golden Years. The punch line is something about body fluids. Now, all these many years later, I get it. I mean I really get it! Every time I look at my two newest fashion accessories I’m reminded of it. Every conversation with friends or neighbors suddenly involves plumbing and a discussion about at least part of the golden part.

I’m finding out all sorts of things about guys I’ve thought I’ve known well for years.

I’m looking forward to my appointment on Tuesday next when I move on to the other fashion accessories you see in the photo above.

Enough whining though, the reality is everyday I feel better, every day I walk further and every day I do more. I am on the mend. And I am absolutely blown away by all the visits, emails, phone calls, comments and kind thoughts that continue to pour in. I am loved! I thank you all for that.

When I was laying in my hospital bed on Monday evening I promised myself that if I was a good boy and looked after myself for the rest of the week, come the weekend I would get a beer.

I am writing this mid-day Friday. Can the weekend be far away?Yes Daniel; I’ll be thinking about you.

Hey Guys: Have you had your PSA checked lately?

Hi Guys, this is not Larry but Larry’s special wife Marilyn(the painter) I have just dropped in to let you know how the great man is doing!  Well not so bad.  The Doctor said the surgery went very well everything looks great.  We need about 10 days for the final tests but all went well.  I left Larry this afternoon and he was sleeping  every now and then he would wake up and ask about the world.  Is there anyone new in the park? We always like to see the new incoming.  Steve and Dar dropped by this evening to say hi, it so great to see them again.  A new season is about to begin  I hear that Bonnie and Rick will be here this weekend.  Anyway at this point all is well.  He loves you all!  Keep reading it is his high!

PS I am a painter not a great writer.

We got back last Friday evening, this is Thursday morning: We’ve been parked here at Sicard RV for 5 days and  I’ve worked 4 of them. I’m happy to report that inspite of all the news about how tough things are in this world, the RV business is alive and well in Smithville. Everywhere you look you see sold signs, trailers and coaches are going out and loads of new inventory pouring in. It kind of reminds me of Mexico; quite a difference between the perception (the media take) of what’s going on and the reality.

So that’s 5 days down, and lots going on in the next 5. We need to get ready for our Saturday Run and who can forget my trip to St Joseph’s Hospital Monday morning.

My surgery will be at 8 am Monday and they are going to cut 5 little holes in my belly and remove my prostrate. They’ll have cameras and little robots and all sorts of stuff in there. My major concern is that when they drill into my gut there will beer shooting back at them. Hopefully I still have some Pacifico in there and hopefully there is enough for all of them.

I should be out of surgery by noon and probably out of the hospital by Wednesday. They say the major way to aid my recovery is lots of walking and we all know I’m good with that. We move back to 50 Point Friday, there are miles of trails there.

We really do need some help on our run. We have yet to reach our meager $2,000 goal. We’ll do all the physical stuff.

We arrived in the Grimbsy area Friday afternoon at about 5:30 and headed for a few days camping at “Camp Sicard”, where I work (hard I might add) in the summers. Despite the cold and the snow it feels good to be back.

By the time we get the motor home parked and plugged in there’s a message on my phone that basically says ” Welcome back, I need you to work tomorrow. See you at 9 AM. So much for our planned relaxing few days getting back into the groove, but it’s nice to know I’m still loved  (I love you too Roger). After close to 6 months of not using my brain, the day went well. By the end of the day I was back in the work mode ready to give it hell for the summer. Now it really feels good to be back.

Basically the difference between the two realities is instead of asking “Can I get you a beer?” I now need to ask “Credit card or a cheque to put your name on that?” Once I get that in my head, I’m good to go for the summer.

Today we head in to Toronto to catch up with the kids. More on that later.
