Way back in 1991 our Daughter brought a new kitten into our home. She called the cat Pebbles. I remember that Peb’s was born on Girl Guide Cookie Day April 22, in ‘Chilliwack BC. Her and Pam became fast friends and spent a lot of time together until, in 2001, Pam headed off to University.
Pebs was with Marilyn, Buster and I on our first trip to Mexico and stayed with us in Grimsby. At some point, we think 2006, Pam announced that she was getting a kitten so her and her now 15 year old kitten were reunited.
On May 28, 2010 Pebbles, now 19 years old, moved on to a better world. I repeat here Pam’s Ode to Pebbles
I wanted a hamster, next choice a bunny,
got something easier, she was a kitty.
Pebbles’ was my best buddy.
Nothing like a house hold pet,
very high maintence she wanted to be kept.
Fed when you were hungry, pet when you needed some love.
You acted like you were like you were sent from above.
At the vet, you were a drama queen,
Always being just plain mean,
you scratched my dad’s head
and then wanted to cuddle in bed.
Beach bum, you never strayed to far.
Hopes were high you would get lost.
Then they realized you were the boss.
We reunited in Toronto,
And you explored all of Parkdale.
Chillin at the Cadillac lounge,
I thought that I would find you at the pound.
You loved to sip water out of mug,
James wanted to trade you for a pug.
Kitty litter all over the wood,
and barfin all over whatever you could.
You had dreads and we all thought that you would long be dead
you made your mark and will forever be my favourite spark.
A best friend that a girl could have.
Pebbles I know you will rest in blissful peace.
Thanks for just being you.
