Baby, it’s cold outside

Sunset at Sunset beach.

When we talked about staying home this winter, we were chatting about how good it would be to have a few days of real winter this time round. We thought it would be a really nice contrast to all our warm winters in the south.

It’s a contrast alright!

Seems like for the last week or 10 days our daytime highs range close to -10C ,(15F),  and we get more snow every day. They tell us we have another week of this before it warms.

Look at those nasty clouds! You need to get out there hundreds of feet to get to open water

Not only are the Great Lakes starting to freeze over, but so is Niagara Falls.

I’m not telling you all this to complain. Remember, this is a brand new experience for us. I’m telling you this so the next time you dip your toes in the warm sand you can appreciate us taking one for the team.

There’s those nasty clouds again.

Hey, guess what? It’s the end of another year! They whiz by so fast these days it’s hard to remember all that happened. In our house, 2017 is going into the history book as another good one. We’re both healthy and loving every day and expect more of the same for 2018.

Marilyn, Angel and I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year.

  1. You might need to mount the snow tracks over the snow tires if this keeps up. We know you’re “takin’ one for the team”. We all appreciate it. PS. Ignore the chuckling.

  2. So far, so good. Things aren’t nearly as awful as the media would suggest. Our street is bare, our house is warm and cozy, we’re still hiking most days, it’s all good. Granted we need to dress properly and we don’t take our swimsuits when we go the beach and there are stories of huge snow falls in areas, etc. but we’re good. Neither one of us has got a bug bite in months. Enjoy your warm. I’m guessing we’ll be back in it with the rest of the snowbirds next year. Hell, maybe even this year. We can go when we want.
    Good talking to you.
